FOUNDER “MILESTONES” since 1974

Elie René MISRAHI is the son of Nessim Elie Misrahi who founded in 1932 “l’Office des Relations Commerciales"

Elie René MISRAHI, (ERM) started his career as a Research Engineer.

    “Academic period” : 1974-1980

  • ERM has been working within Institut Pasteur Laboratories as a Biochemical Engineer in Applied Research in Biotechnology mainly making use of such technologies as Enzymology, Fermentation and Genetic Engineering.

  • As a member of a “pastorian team”, his works were successfully published in a scientific review and Institut Pasteur filed then a patent application which was derived from said team works. Accordingly there was a patent granted for a collagenase composition, notably helpful in the healing of heavily burned skin.

  • When he left Institut Pasteur in 1980, ERM was managing the fermentation laboratory of so-called Institut Pasteur Production.

  • Much later, in 1987, ERM was invited to visit Toho pharmaceutical, a japanese firm based in Osaka, that Institut Pasteur have licensed to produce said patented collagenase composition, one of his major achievements at Pasteur.


    “ Manager in industry period” : 1980-1983

    ERM had been hired by Jerôme MONOD, Lyonnaise des Eaux CEO, -nephew of Jacques MONOD, former Institut Pasteur CEO- with the mission of successfully create and manage, in the company facilities, its “biotech lab”.


    “R & D Consultant period” : 1983-1985
    ERM became a consultant for different private companies and in various areas : industry-university contracts, know-how + patent protection /product(s) or process(es) licensing in and/or out and patents portofolio valuation, technological and competitive watch etc…

“Our future is where our past is” is a slogan that ERM would rather make his !

Indeed, the periods described above correspond to the industrial background which formed the necessary and sufficient foundations on which ERM’s actual industrial property background is building up.

INDUSTRIAL PROPERTY BACKGROUND :

  • “Examiner of patents” period : 1985-1990
    Within I.N.P.I, Institut National de la Propriété Industrielle :

    - Examination as a French Examiner of the first patent application for a transgenic mouse. ( 3 pages / 109 - pdf files - 186 ko)
    - Drafting of a special review on the protection of biotechnological inventions published as “INPI forum”
    - Representing France for :

    *Trilateral meetings (USPTO, JPO, O.E.B) on harmonising patent applications comprising DNA sequences or the like
    *European BioDirective discussions within the European Community Commission (Brussels)
    *WIPO Patent Law Harmonisation meetings (Geneva)

    With the World Intellectual Property Organisation (W.I.P.O) :

    - Lectures on legal aspects of the protection of biotechnological inventions

  • “Patent Engineer” period : 1990-1994 employee within OREAL, the world cosmetics leader, learning on a daily basis what is an international company strategy in I.P.


  • I.P Councel "Conseil en Propriété Industrielle", private practice period : 1994 up to now.
